A question for everything

Pre-school children always want to learn more, and they can never have enough knowledge to fill their enquiring minds. It can feel like they are constantly asking questions, but this is simply their way of learning more about the world around them.

A child’s point of view

It might seem like an inconvenience to constantly have to stop and think about the question and come up with a suitable answer. However, if you don’t spend time answering their questions in the correct manner, you could be hindering your children’s development. They are simply excited about new things and there seems to be something new for them to learn about every day. Seeing the world from your child’s point of view will enable you to realise how interesting everything can be for them.

Make it into a game

A child’s inquisitive mind can be extremely fascinating. As a parent, you need to come up with new ways to develop their knowledge and gain their interest. There is a range of educational games that you can adapt to help them learn more about everyday areas of life. You could take a book and a camera or pencils out with you the next time you go somewhere.

While you’re out, spend time looking at what you see and answering their questions. Let them take a photo or draw things that have interested them, and this will give you something to talk about when you get home. You could build up a little scrapbook of places you’ve visited and things you spotted.
